(KGNS) - Laredo voters will return to the polls next month after none of the three candidates in the Laredo College Board of Trustees Position 9 race secured a majority in Tuesday's election.

The race heads to a citywide runoff between incumbent Tita Vela and challenger Dr. Eduardo Lopez, with college officials estimating the election will cost the institution between $88,000 and $90,000. Vela, who has served on the board for 12 years, led with about 42% of the vote.

Lopez received approximately 34%.
