BIG SPRING, Texas (KOSA) - The Big Spring ISD is investigating a threat posted on TikTok against several students, Superintendent Jay McWilliams said in a press release.
The press release said they were made aware of the threat on Monday, Aug. 31, at around 6:45 a.m. McWilliams said the post was made on TikTok and that after reviewing the investigation, district officials believe it was not a real threat.
McWilliams said the post was part of a TikTok trend mimicking the children's story "Cat in a Hat." He said the trend uses AI-generated images of the book's character in suspicious situations and is intended to intimidate."This Tik Tok trend tends to intimidate which is a safety issue for our school district," McWilliams said.
