An ICE officer who is wanted in Minnesota and released in Texas after Gov. Abbott did not sign extradition papers has been suspended without pay, the Department of Homeland Security said.

Christian Castro was released early Thursday morning from a detention center in Brownsville, Texas, after Governor Greg Abbott declined to sign his extradition warrant.

On Thursday night, DHS told ABC13 that Castro has been suspended without pay pending an internal investigation.
