The Bangs City Council on Monday night unanimously approved a 5% hotel occupancy tax inside the city limits and extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of Bangs.
Any business that operates a room for lease that fits the description of a hotel room - hotel, motel, tourist home, tourist house, tourist court, lodging house, inn, rooming house, bed and breakfast, or short-term rental such an Airbnb - for more than $2, will be required to provide a 5% tax payment to the City of Bangs.
RVs passing through town that stop within the city limits are not subject to the tax, but if an RV is being rented out for housing purposes, that is subject to the tax, according to City Attorney Pat Chesser.
