This week, beginning Sept. 17 and ending Sept. 23, is recognized as Constitution Week, signaling the anniversary of the United States Constitution's signing in 1787.

Constitution Week was started by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) when they petitioned Congress for the official dedication, which was signed into law in 1956, according to the DAR website.

The week is a time to honor the history of the document and the rights it enshrines for every American, Bulverde attorney Chris Byrd said.
