(KGNS) - More than 600 Perez Elementary students moved to the former Amparo Gutierrez campus after the school's air-conditioning chillers stopped working.

United ISD relocated the students to escape the heat, according to the district.

Jessica Rivera, principal of Perez Elementary, said students reacted with excitement when they arrived at the new location."They walked through the doors. They were amazed because it's something different. We've never been here," Rivera said.
