SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY, Texas (KTRE) - Five families remain displaced from their homes as state emergency crews and energy specialists work around the clock to contain an underground natural gas well leak seven miles outside San Augustine.

The rupture occurred roughly 900 feet below the surface near State Highway 21 and Farm-to-Market Road 354 in the Denning community.

Officials say the issue first emerged early last Thursday morning after a regional compressor station reported a sudden, total loss of receiving pressure.
