AUSTIN, Texas - Four candidates are running for Austin City Council District 5: Ryan Alter, David Weinberg, Liz Brink, and Farrah Abraham.

What they're saying: Ryan Alter was first elected four years ago.

"I'm running for this office because I want to make Austin a place that's affordable for people. That was the reason I ran four years ago, and in that time we have achieved really amazing results. Housing costs are down, rents are down. We've been able to almost double the senior homestead exemption, so seniors are able to stay in their home, keep electricity bills as low as possible," Alter said.
