A stranded chihuahua is safe after three North East ISD employees worked together to rescue the dog from a steep drainage ditch outside the district's Richard A. Middleton Education Center.
According to a district social media post, the rescue happened last week after District Treasurer Rebecca Carrasco spotted the small dog struggling to get out of the ditch.
Carrasco contacted David Gracia, senior director of risk management and benefits, who went to check on the situation.
