The Brownwood High tennis team opened the 2026 campaign Thursday with a 15-4 setback at the hands of Hereford at Rose Park.

The victories for Brownwood were earned by the No. 3 boys doubles team of Duncan Dennison and Parker Dennison (8-6 over Martinez and Woodard), the No. 3 girls doubles team of Willow Camp and Amy Deechaleune (8-6 over Emma Council and Zaybri Tijerina), No. 1 boys single Blake Hutchins (8-0 over Caleb Ysaguirre), and No. 6 girls single Deechaleune (8-6 over Council).

The Lady Lions and Lions (0-1) will battle Wall at 8 a.m. Friday, Canyon West Plains at 4 p.m. Friday, and Canyon High at 8 a.m. Saturday - all at Rose Park - to conclude action for the first week of the season.
