A former clerk of court in South Carolina is accused of secretly increasing his own pay rate 44 times over about a year and a half.
Todd Keith Massey turned himself in Wednesday morning as he faces charges of breach of trust with fraudulent intent, grand larceny valued at $5,000 or more, and a violation of the state Ethics, Government Accountability and Campaign Reform Act.
From June 2021 through January 2023, Massey, while employed as clerk of court, allegedly gradually increased his own hourly pay rate across 44 consecutive biweekly pay periods, according to the warrants.
