GALVESTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Galveston City Council Member Jason Hardcastle was arrested for driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest after a crash on Friday evening, police said.

The Galveston Police Department said officers responded to the two-vehicle crash in the 6800 block of Seawall Boulevard at about 8:15 p.m. Galveston PD said an officer noticed signs that Hardcastle was possibly intoxicated and arrested him on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Police said Hardcastle refused to provide a breath sample, and officers obtained a search warrant for a blood specimen to be collected by a trained medical professional.
