GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas - A man who spent more than 26 years as a fugitive has been extradited from Nicaragua and returned to Galveston County, authorities said.

Roberto Moran Perez was convicted in 2000 of aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child.

He received sentences of 16 years and 10 years, but fled before sentencing, according to the Galveston County Sheriff's Office.
