The Howard Payne Yellow Jackets rebounded from their only loss of the football season and collected their first American Southwest Conference victory, 41-21 over the Schreiner Mountaineers here Saturday.

After falling to Mary Hardin-Baylor (5-1, 1-0) by a 33-10 count last week, Howard Payne (6-1, 1-1) grabbed a 13-0 lead in the first quarter that Schreiner (3-4, 0-2) trimmed to 13-7 at halftime.

The Yellow Jackets then put three touchdowns on the board in the third quarter to extend their cushion to a comfortable 34-14 heading into the final stanza.
