- Three novice hikers were rescued after becoming stranded on Mount Shasta, a 14,179-foot peak in Northern California's Cascade Range near the Oregon border, authorities said.

Dig deeper: The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue team assisted U.S. Forest Service climbing rangers in rescuing the three men from Roseville, California, on Monday.

The hikers set up camp at about 8,400 feet on Saturday, Aug. 29.
