LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - The Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) officially designated Lufkin as a Texas Cultural District Friday, Lufkin Creative announced."This designation means so much to me because I have seen firsthand how much creativity, talent and heart already exists in Lufkin," Sandi Adams, executive director of Lufkin Creative, said in a statement.

The Lufkin Cultural District is one of four new state cultural districts approved by TCA, joining districts in Brownsville, Edinburg and Galveston.

The newly designated district is bounded by Rhodes Avenue to the north, Jackson Avenue and Elsie Street to the south, Angelina Street and the railroad line to the west, and a stepped boundary along Second, Third and Charlton streets to the east.
