Students and staff celebrated the grand opening of a student-run auto shop Friday at Houston ISD's Barbara Jordan Career Center, giving automotive technology students hands-on experience while offering maintenance services to the community.

Students in the center's Automotive Technology program will work on customers' vehicles under instructor supervision.

Services include oil and filter changes, tire rotations and multipoint inspections.
