MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A man is dead after a crash ended in a deadly shooting in Montgomery County on Sunday morning, deputies said.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, a suspect driving a red car hit another car on the main lanes of Highway 99 near Rayford Road at about 12:30 a.m. After both cars stopped, deputies said witnesses told them one person got of their car and approached the other driver, who also got out of their vehicle.

Investigators said the suspect opened fire and shot the other driver, then got in their car and drove away.
