HAMILTON COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) - The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office this week announced the identification of a victim in a cold case that had remained unresolved for more than four decades.
A woman who was found dead near Highway 36 on Sept. 1, 1983, has been identified as Betty Jo Norris, born Aug. 8, 1939, the sheriff wrote in a social media post.
According to the post, clothing and other evidence associated with this case have been preserved and maintained, which led to establishing Norris' identity and providing answers to her family after decades of uncertainty.
