Fredericksburg City Council denied a rezoning request from three residences along North Milam Street in a 3-1 vote on Tuesday morning.

The owners of 604 N. Milam St., 608 N. Milam St. and 610 N. Milam St. wanted to obtain the lowest level of commercial zoning on their properties, which are currently zoned for residential use.

Anna Hudson, a landmark planning and development advisor who presented on behalf of the property owners, argued that a recent rezoning approval at 707 N. Milam St. set a precedent for the area and that the three properties requesting commercial zoning should be treated similarly.
