LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Lufkin City Council members voted 7-0 Tuesday to deny a zone change for a lot at 1609 Sunrise Avenue and recognized the promotions of three firefighters and a police captain.

Zone change deniedThe proposal would have reclassified the 2. 22-acre lot from residential small to manufactured dwelling.

City staff said the surrounding area is predominantly site-built homes, and the Planning and Zoning Commission had recommended denial after the request drew two letters of opposition.
