WACO, Texas (KWTX) - In the 15 years that Virgil Bain has served as McLennan County associate criminal judge, he has set bonds and bond conditions for at least 60,000 county jail inmates.

But now at 71, Bain is set to retire at the end of September and four attorneys have lined up for the appointment to succeed him."It's been 15 years. It's time to go," Bain said.

"I want to be in halfway decent shape when I retire."Bain said another contributing factor to his retirement is the county's new computer system, which went live two weeks ago and is causing headaches and consternation as county employees try to grow accustomed to it and learn the ins and outs."The thing that has really changed is the new computer system," Bain said.
