MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) - Both congressional candidates for District 11 faced off in Midland to debate a range of topics, from flock cameras and data centers to the cost of ground beef.
Rep. August Pfluger and Democratic nominee Claire Reynolds spoke with First Alert 7 after the debate about how they felt it went."I think it went pretty well. I mean it was more collegial than I thought it would be, but I felt like I was able to call out Congressman Pfluger on some things I think he needs to be called out on," Reynolds said."It was a chance to talk about my record in Congress, about defending this great district I live in which is the very best district in the entire country, and the chance to tell people what I am going to do when I am re-elected," Pfluger said.
When asked why they are running for the district 11 seat, the candidates pointed to sharply different priorities."I'm running because I want to get big money out. There are a lot of other things I want to do, but I feel like none of it is going to matter until we can stop corporations from buying out elections, just period," Reynolds said."Well I'm proud of my record, I'm proud to represent the Permian Basin. I'm proud to go to Congress and keep Washington D.C. out of our lives and give every American the chance to live the American dream - but specifically, this is my home. I was raised here, my family lives here, we go to church here - I mean this district is deeply personal to me," Pfluger said.
