TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) - Temple voters will decide in November whether to authorize up to $15 million in bonds to replace the nearly century-old Sammons Community Center, as city officials say structural concerns and the long-term cost of repairs have led them to recommend building a new facility.

The City of Temple held the first of three community open houses Monday evening to provide information about Proposition A, the Sammons Community Center bond proposition.

Residents came out to hear a presentation from Temple Assistant City Manager Shawn Reynolds and ask questions about the proposal, its potential tax impact and why the city is considering replacement rather than repair."It's really up to the voters," Reynolds said.
