LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - In a little more than a week, the Lufkin city council will vote on its proposed $94,618,925 budget for the 2027 fiscal year.

This spending plan was described by city leaders as balanced, responsible and service-focused.

Council voted 6-1 to approve the first reading of the budget, with Ward 1 Councilwoman Angela Hobbs-Spencer casting the lone "no" vote.
