BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - The Bryan ISD Board of Trustees has unanimously approved an order calling for a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.

The election will ask voters to consider a 2-cent tax increase to the district's Maintenance and Operations (M&O) tax rate, moving it from $0. 6769 to $0. 6968. If approved by voters, the VATRE is estimated to generate $5. 5 million in annual, recurring revenue for Bryan ISD that is not subject to state recapture, meaning all funds raised will stay within the local school district.

According to district officials, the decision to call for the election follows extensive community-based discussions dating back to 2024.
