When LuAnn Anderson and Jackie Kayne retired from their jobs with the city of Dallas and moved to Kerrville a quarter century ago, they joined the Kerrville Garden Club.
They soon found they had no place to sell the plants and vegetables they grew.
"We had so much produce that we didn't know what to do with it. We decided that Kerrville needed a farmers market. We first visited with Mindy Wendele, who gave us tips on how to get approval and how to organize the event. We next went to the courthouse and met with then-Precinct 1 Commissioner Buster Baldwin, and he liked our idea and placed our plan on the next commissioners' court agenda, and it was approved. The rest is history," Anderson said.
