Gillespie County could collect 6. 2% more in property taxes next year if Friday's proposed tax rate is adopted by the Gillespie County Commissioners Court next month.
At the final budget workshop before fiscal year 2027's proposed county budget was submitted for public review, a slew of residents pushed back against the fiscal management of the court, citing a multi-year backlog of treasury reports and inconsistent pay raises throughout the proposed budget.
During the meeting, commissioners conceded that the county's proposed spending in FY 2027 needs to be reined in over the coming weeks.
