Budget season isn't often a happy one at Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District.

That changed this year when a new administration team presented a $639,064 surplus budget with no obvious cuts to instruction or employee pay on Aug. 24.

The district's board of trustees approved the budget, which projected a revenue of $44. 3 million and expenses of $43. 7 million.
