San Antonio City Council is expected to receive its next major update on Project Marvel in October, as plans move forward for a new downtown Spurs arena and broader improvements aimed at reshaping the city's core.

Sources told KSAT that council members will be briefed on studies related to costs, negotiations with the Spurs, and planned improvements and expansion of the Alamodome and the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center.

Construction is expected to begin in about a year, with the arena becoming visible in 2031.
