A Guadalupe County jury recessed Friday without reaching a punishment verdict for a New Braunfels man convicted of killing another New Braunfels resident in 2023 in downtown Seguin.

The jury on Thursday convicted Isaac Mesa Jr. of murder in the early morning Sept. 2, 2023, shooting death of Adrian Barbosa.

After hours of deliberation on Mesa's punishment, 456th District Judge Heather Hines dismissed the panel shortly before 5 p.m. Friday, ordering them to return Monday.
