St. Thomas Orthodox Church has launched an effort to accommodate its growing parish, currently located on Llano Street in Fredericksburg.

A workday was organized Saturday, Oct. 10, with about 20 volunteer parishioners of all ages working on the seven-acre property the parish purchased on Upper Live Oak.

The goal of the project was to clear brush in an area for an outdoor parish picnic Nov. 1.
