SUGAR LAND, Texas - A youth softball association is taking a hard line against violence after a fight at a Sugar Land sports complex left a man unconscious, saying anyone it determines participated in the altercation will receive a lifetime ban from its events.

The United States Fastpitch Association (USFA) announced the decision in a statement following Saturday night's confrontation at Imperial Park, where an argument over cheering during a youth softball game escalated into a physical fight involving adults.

"Our young athletes deserve better from all of us," the association said.
