While local band programs continue to rake in accolades following long hours of hard work and dedication to their craft, students and staff say participating in band is about much more than honors and trophies.

It's about building resilience, connecting with peers, making an impact and just enjoying making music together.

Members of the Davenport High School wind ensemble recently received the news that they were named the 2027 Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) 4A Honor Band, and several students said it was a moment filled with great emotion and a sense of pride.
