(KGNS) - United ISD is hosting "Dance for a Cure," a Zumba fundraiser benefiting Smiles From Heaven, as part of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September.

Lorena Martinez with UISD said the event is the district's first Zumba fundraiser for the organization, which she said helps children and families in Laredo and South Texas battling childhood cancer."We really wanted to do something different," Martinez said.

"We always have our pin-up campaign where we raise funds for them and all that, but this time we said let's do something extra, something fun where the community can get involved and at the same time contribute to this wonderful cause."The one-hour Zumba class will be held at United Middle School.
