The Uvalde County Appraisal District board of directors will evaluate chief appraiser Roberto Valdez and consider his contract and salary at 6 p.m. Sept. 15. Board members are scheduled to discuss Valdez's 2026 evaluation and contract in closed session before reconvening to potentially act on his evaluation, contract extension and salary.
The board will also consider contracting with Capitol Appraisal Group for up to $20,000 to appraise mineral, utility and industrial properties for the 2027 appraisal year; purchasing sales data from Carahsoft Technology Corp. for $5,000; and hiring architect Victor Patino for up to $600 to provide preliminary estimates and guidance on remodeling the appraisal district building.
Also on the agenda is the expected resignation of board member Abelardo "Lalo" Castillo, who notified the chief appraiser by email Aug. 28.
