COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture counts 113 confirmed New World screwworm cases in the U.S., including 36 in October and 24 so far in November, according to the agency's online dashboard.
Cases have turned up in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona.
Despite the increase, USDA says the system for spotting and reporting new cases is working."Until we can get those production facilities ramped up at the max production level, we will continue to be in a response posture," said Dudley Hoskins, USDA Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs.
