HEMPHILL, Texas (KTRE) - Two AI data centers, AmpZ and Hyper Data Grid, are targeting Angelina County, but state permits for the facilities remain on hold.

Governor Greg Abbott placed a moratorium on new data centers statewide earlier this month to assess their strain on local resources.

During a stop in Hemphill, Abbott drew a hard line on electricity."They must provide their own power as opposed to taking power off the Texas power grid," Abbott said.
