TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - A jury has sentenced a Tyler man to death in the 2023 beating and stabbing death of 18-year-old Dejah Hood.

The jury found Jamaurea Jermaine Britton, 22, guilty of capital murder Thursday after eight days of weighing the man's guilt or innocence."It can't get more brutal than what he did," prosecutor Heath Chamness said Friday during closing arguments of the trial's sentencing phase.

"You didn't make these choices. He did."Chamness said death row would be similar to Britton's current environment while he is confined to the Smith County Jail.
