Putting in hundreds of miles run, starting during Texas' intense summer heat, paid off for the Lady Antlers cross-country team on October's last Monday when Tivy finished fourth at the Region IV 4A meet in Corpus Christi to punch its ticket to the UIL state meet.

The top four teams and the top 10 individuals not members of state-qualifying squads will compete at the state meet scheduled Friday and Saturday, Nov. 6-7, at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

There were 24 girls' teams representing eight districts.
