Republican Rep. Kevin Hearn has been elected to fill the seat of former Senator Markwayne Mullin, who took over as Homeland Security Secretary.

Ardmore Native N'Kiyla Jasmine Thomas was Hern's Democratic opponent in the race.

Hern, a U.S. Representative from Tulsa, won the Republican nomination for the seat during the June primaries after Oklahoma Governor picked energy executive Alan Armstrong to temporarily fill the seat after Mullin was appointed as Homeland Security Secretary, but he opted not to run for a full term.
