When the floodwaters that inundated the basement and lower level of the Kerr County Courthouse receded, Precinct 3 Constable Paul Gonzales was able to retrieve several of the important documents from his office.

His friend, retired Kerrville Police Department officer Ed Johnson, helped, and Johnson took the documents out to Hobby Lobby and asked that they help restore and reframe them for Gonzales.

"I had several personal effects, awards, recognitions, two shadow boxes and a flag that was flown over the Texas Capitol that was presented to me by the Texas Crime Prevention Association that were very important to me. Ed was able to help me get them dried out, restored and reframed at no expense to the county," Gonzales said last week in his temporary office at 550 Earl Garrett.
