Texas homeowners have new clarification on what insurance companies can and cannot consider when deciding whether to provide or renew a homeowners policy.
The Texas Department of Insurance said insurance companies cannot deny or refuse to renew a homeowners insurance policy simply because a home or its roof is older.
Under the clarified rule, insurers can still consider the physical condition of a home and its components, including the roof, wiring, heating and air conditioning systems, plumbing and siding.
