It has been 18 years since Hurricane Ike made landfall near Galveston, bringing heavy rain, wind, and historic storm surge to the Texas coast.

Though Southeast Texas has experienced effects from storms such as Harvey and Beryl since, Ike remains a name that many people remember.

Hurricane Ike made landfall at 2:10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, near Galveston as a category 2 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 110 mph.
