HUNTSVILLE, Texas (KBTX) - A Huntsville man who dreamed of joining the police academy has been cleared of all felony charges, crediting a three-minute cellphone video captured by his 12-year-old son with saving him from a prison sentence.

According to a report by ABC 13 in Houston, a Walker County jury last week acquitted Jafari Stewart on felony charges of assault on a peace officer and harassment of a public servant.

The charges stemmed from a March 2025 incident in which two Huntsville police officers knocked on Stewart's door late at night to investigate a "welfare concern regarding children."While prosecutors indicted Stewart on allegations that he spat on an officer and pushed him into a wall, neither of those actions could be seen in the cellphone footage captured by his son, the report said.
