GRIMES COUNTY, Texas (KBTX) - SpaceX has made its first major payment to Grimes County under the 100% tax abatement agreement tied to its proposed Terafab semiconductor manufacturing facility, and the company did it ahead of schedule.

Under the agreement, SpaceX was required to pay the county a non-refundable $10 million within 60 days of the agreement's June 3 signing date, setting a deadline of Sunday, August 2.

But Grimes County Judge Joe Fauth confirmed to KBTX that the check arrived early."We got the check on Wednesday. It went in the bank on Thursday. And today is Friday. So they beat their deadline. They didn't wait till the very last minute," Fauth said.
