Following New Braunfels City Council's unanimous decision to retain the Law Offices of Ryan Henry to conduct an outside investigation into the construction issues of the New Braunfels Police Department's Headquarters, Mayor Michael French released a statement Wednesday evening praising councilmembers for their vote.

Councilmember Michael Capizzi of District 2 had earlier recused himself out of an abundance of caution to avoid even the appearance of impropriety given his employment with Joeris General Contractors, LLC, the general contractor that constructed the facility.

"A very important independent investigation is underway and we, as a city, are taking this very seriously. We have instructed legal to start the investigation into the police department headquarters. City council is fully insulated from the investigation. It is encouraging to see the council come together unanimously on this important issue," stated Mayor French.
