LAKEHILLS, Texas - The owner of a Bandera County wildlife sanctuary is calling last week's law enforcement raid on his property vindictive - saying it was timed to hurt him ahead of an upcoming jury trial.

Armando Mendez, president and CEO of We Care Wildlife Sanctuary on Park Road 37 in Lakehills, spoke to KSAT 12 on Thursday - his first on-camera interview since the Sept. 4 seizure.

Bandera County Precinct 2 Constable Greg Spengler led the operation, which began around 7 a.m. on Labor Day weekend.
