Winona ISD superintendent plans to drive bus route as district faces worker shortage
Winona ISD superintendent will drive a school bus route full-time to address a critical shortage of bus drivers as the district begins the school year with only 13 drivers instead of the previous 15.

WINONA, Texas (KLTV) - A shortage of school bus drivers is leading Winona ISD Superintendent Justin Cowart to step into the driver's seat full-time heading into the first day of classes Thursday.
Cowart said the district is down to 12 bus drivers after having 15 last year.
With Cowart, there are 13 drivers heading into the first day of school.
