Uvalde County Jail staffers left an inmate in a holding cell for seven days in May, triple the maximum stay, according to a Texas Commission on Jail Standards noncompliance notice posted June 30.

Sheriff Ruben Nolasco, who oversees the jail, said the incident was a staff blunder.
